 Macaw Chicks Fledged Successfully

Monday, December 12, 2016

Because of the kindness shown by people like you, we’re making great progress to save parrots like the Critically Endangered Blue-throated Macaw (Ara glaucogularis), a species found only in Bolivia.

Our team in Bolivia has been able to take protective measures with the nests to reduce predation, resulting in 8 new chicks fledging to join the wild population in the past year!

With wild numbers now hovering at just over 130 individuals, the species requires ongoing, direct efforts to help increase its population. The survival of these youngsters is deeply important to the species.

But that’s just the start.

These parrots and many more face an ever-increasing number of threats to their survival. It’s only a matter of time before some of them vanish for good, so it is vital that we keep fighting to save them.

Help the world's most threatened parrots with a gift of $25, $50 or $100. And - thanks to a generous sponsor - if you donate by Jan. 31st, your gift will be DOUBLED!

Be the hero parrots need. Please, donate today!
